HOLLYWOOD-based Aussie starlet Melissa George is still away but the rumours are true. She’s coming home.
The former soapie star has signed on as the leading lady in psychological thriller Triangle to be shot on the Goldy.
Word of negotiations between the actress and producers of the $18 million feature flick first hit Hollywood headlines in February.
But Qconfidential’s celluloid sources reckon the deal has finally been done, with Melissa signing on the dotted line in the past few days.
“She’s been contracted to play the lead,” an insider said.
“It’s all happened only in the last week.
“Obviously, she’s done quite a lot of horror films and she’s very well known in that genre. But this isn’t really a horror film.
” I think that’s what appeals to her. Its very much a cross-over film for her. It’s not blood and gore. It’s much more like Sixth Sense and Memento.”
Melissa, 31, is expected to jet into the Sunny State within six weeks to begin rehearsals for the film. She will be playing a woman with a mental disorder who relives a harrowing experience through her three personalities. Most of the action occurs on the water with five passengers of an upturned yacht fleeing on to an apparently abandoned oceanliner.
Filming will take place in a heated water tank at Warner Bros studios as well as cooler locations “all along the coast”. Or so we’re told.
Melissa is heading what is believed to be an all-Aussie cast. It is understood producers are in “discussions” with a couple of other well-known Aussie actors. On set, Melissa and co will be in the hands of Brit filmmaker and Severance director Christopher Smith. Source.
