Christina Ricci, Jennifer Jason Leigh and Melissa George were among the starlets who flew out to China on Thursday for a weekend of glamorous fesitivities to mark the 80-year anniversary of the house of Salvatore Ferragamo.
In a nod to Ferragamo’s pioneer spirit, Shanghai provided the setting for the celebrations, which kicked off with the unveiling of a retrospective – Salvatore Ferragamo: Evolving Legend 1928-2008 – at the city’s prestigious Museum of Contemporary Art. A fashion show was then held in a spectacular venue along the Huang Pu river, before a VIP cocktail party that continued into the night.
“This might be our 80th anniversary, but the fashion world has known the Ferragamo name for nearly a century,” said Wanda Ferragamo, wife of founder and design legend Salvatore, who died in 1960. “This event is especially important to us because it is the first time that we are presenting a retrospective not on Salvatore the man, but on the business he founded: its identity, innovations and values.”
The weekend also provided a platform for the label to launch its newest products: Tuscan Soul, the latest Ferragamo fragrance, and a new line of watches in conjunction with Timex. Source
