$18 million-dollar psychological thrillerTriangle will boost Gold Coast jobs with local retailers, hospitality, construction and tourism set to profit.

Produced by Gold Coaster Chris Brown and starring Australian actress Melissa George, site foreman Chris Turner said it was great to see Triangle employing Queensland crew.

“Every time a big show comes to town, we don’t get a look in because they employ people from Sydney, but that’s slowly changing,” he said.

Filmmakers have started building a 55m three-storey-high replica ocean-liner at The Spit which will take about seven weeks to complete and employ more than 20 people.

Producer Chris Brown said; “It’s going to be pretty huge and it will probably become a tourist attraction.”

Gold Coast-based location manager Mike McLean said local movie-making had been quiet due to the US-Australian dollar exchange rate.

“It’s great for international productions because Queensland offers incomparable financial incentives- they’re getting value for money,” he said.

Gold Coast talent agent Tay O’Keefe said Triangle offers local talent the opportunity to take part as supporting-roles and extras.

“The Triangle will employ roughly 100 talents as extras, and auditions for supporting roles are already underway.”

“The film’s a great boost for the industry,” she said.

Brown said the film would be based at Warner Roadshow Studios at Oxenford, where they are working on building a yacht inside the studio’s $2.1 million water tank.

The tanks are the only facility of their kind in the southern hemisphere which the State Government invested in late last year and is expected to bring more film projects to Queensland.

Public access to the final 80m of The Spit’s southern seawall will be restricted for the next three months. Source.

SHE’S a bona fide Hollywood-based scream – er, screen – queen. But Aussie starlet Melissa George made a relatively quiet return home this week, to begin filming the $18 million thriller Triangle.

The typically impeccably dressed actor was looking decidedly dishevelled on the Brisbane set of the locally produced flick.

She plays a single mum with multiple personalities invited aboard a friend’s boat for a day trip.

Things turn scary on screen when a violent storm capsizes the boat and her rescuers on an ocean liner aren’t the heroes they appear to be.

The former Home & Away star is expected to stay in Australia for at least two months. Source.

FILMMAKERS working on the big budget thriller Triangle have started building a 55m, three-storey-high replica ocean-liner at The Spit. Producer Chris Brown said the set would take about two months to build before the cast and crew could come aboard to begin filming.

The $18 million feature film is set inside the Bermuda Triangle and the Southport Seaway is being used as the backdrop.

“We’re building the set in the water so we will be shooting against real ocean instead of using loads of CGI (computer generated imagery),” he said.

“You could say it’s an old fashioned way of doing it but it’s going to give you a more authentic look and feel because you’re among the elements — you’ve got the sea, the wind and birds flying around so it will look twice as good. “It’s going to be pretty huge and it will probably become a tourist attraction.”

Brown said most of the action would take place on the deck.

HOLLYWOOD-based Aussie starlet Melissa George is still away but the rumours are true. She’s coming home.

The former soapie star has signed on as the leading lady in psychological thriller Triangle to be shot on the Goldy.

Word of negotiations between the actress and producers of the $18 million feature flick first hit Hollywood headlines in February.

But Qconfidential’s celluloid sources reckon the deal has finally been done, with Melissa signing on the dotted line in the past few days.

“She’s been contracted to play the lead,” an insider said.

“It’s all happened only in the last week.

“Obviously, she’s done quite a lot of horror films and she’s very well known in that genre. But this isn’t really a horror film.

” I think that’s what appeals to her. Its very much a cross-over film for her. It’s not blood and gore. It’s much more like Sixth Sense and Memento.”

Melissa, 31, is expected to jet into the Sunny State within six weeks to begin rehearsals for the film. She will be playing a woman with a mental disorder who relives a harrowing experience through her three personalities. Most of the action occurs on the water with five passengers of an upturned yacht fleeing on to an apparently abandoned oceanliner.

Filming will take place in a heated water tank at Warner Bros studios as well as cooler locations “all along the coast”. Or so we’re told.

Melissa is heading what is believed to be an all-Aussie cast. It is understood producers are in “discussions” with a couple of other well-known Aussie actors. On set, Melissa and co will be in the hands of Brit filmmaker and Severance director Christopher Smith. Source.

Thanks to littleone87 at Livejournal, I have now uploaded screen captures from “30 Days of Night”. There are 932 captures but not everything is sorted in order since some files have the number beyond 1000 and is therefore sorted after files with 100 in them and so on. You will understand when you see it.

Looks like ‘The Music Within’ will come on DVD the 8th of April! Click here to view the cover of the DVD. There doesn’t seem to be an excessive amount of special features but it will apparently feature commentary by director Steven Sawalich, producer Brett Donowho and writer Kelly Kennemer as well as deleted scenes.
