Movie titles switch around faster than anything else in this industry. Take for example Melissa George’s new film The Grave at Angel’s Peak that we reported on last month. Here we are just a few weeks later, and the flick has gotten itself a brand new Facebook page and a new title – the equally as somber A Lonely Place to Die. Yep, they are certainly bringing the fun with this one!

George is set to make a gruesome discovery in Julian Gilbey’s new thriller, co-starring Ed Speleers. The flick centers upon a group of five mountaineers who are hiking and climbing in the Scottish Highlands that happen to discover a young Serbian girl buried in a small chamber in the wilderness. The group then becomes caught up in a terrifying game of cat and mouse with the kidnappers as they try to get the girl to safety.

The Perth-born actor was a special guest of the Red Bull Air Race World Series and watched Austrian Hannes Arch finish Saturday’s round with the fastest qualifying time. The result saw Arch assured the series’ title with a single point, putting him in an unbeatable position, regardless of the results of tomorrow’s race.

George, 33, said she had a fascination with aircraft. “I’d love to go up in one of the planes,” she said. “I’m obsessed with it. I want to learn how to fly.” George divides her time between Los Angeles, New York and Argentina, but was thrilled to be home to catch up with family.

“To try to get time out of Grey’s Anatomy is really hard, but I knew that my sister had just had a baby and I wanted to see her desperately,” she said.

“It’s my sister’s third kid and I love seeing her so happy and my mum and dad are here and my little sister. I love Perth, when I come home I really appreciate it.”

George said she jumped at the opportunity to join one of America’s most popular TV shows.

“It’s such a great show and when I met with the creator I just thought ‘wow, I’d love to be part of it’,” she said.

She described her latest role as a bisexual intern as a bit of fun.

“I haven’t stopped laughing since I’ve gone to work,” she said. “It’s the most fun, crazy, great set.”

Despite a hectic filming schedule, George said she maintained a healthy balance between work and home life with her husband, Chilean film director Claudio Dabed.

“When I’m in LA it’s just for work, but when we’re in Buenos Aires it’s just for us, my husband and I,” she said. “We can just relax.” Source

Her troubled character, Jess, is in virtually every scene and the script often requires her to play three different versions of herself on the same day.

The role is also very physically demanding, says Triangle director Chris Smith, who cast George because of her “maturity” as an actor.

Speaking during a brief set break at the Warner Brothers studio on Thursday, George admitted that four weeks into filming, she “wasn’t sure she’d make it” to the end of the project.

“It’s been really rough and intense,” said the Perth-born star of 30 Days of Night and Derailed, who now bases herself between New York and Buenos Aires with her Argentinian film director husband, Claudio Dabed.

“In life, I’m quite easygoing and happy-go-lucky,” she said.

“Four weeks in, all I could think was, ‘Just hold on. Hold on tight. Because you’re losing yourself’,” she said.

Her fears are reminiscent of those surrounding Heath Ledger and the late actor’s extraordinarily intense portrayal of The Joker in The Dark Knight.

Those close to Ledger worried he had grown withdrawn and reclusive while filming the Batman Begins sequel. After his death, rumours emerged that the actor’s total immersion in the role had led crew members to suggest he seek counselling.

George, who worked alongside Ledger on Home and Away and the short-lived series Roar, said her body, too, had reacted to the stress of her latest performance.

“Your body doesn’t know you’re faking it,” she said.

“You just start to get really tight, your neck, your glands.

“In real life, you probably go through a hard time emotionally every now and then, but you don’t do it from every angle 50 times, 12 hours a day for four months.”

Smith, who also wrote the script for Triangle, said George’s performance was “brilliant”.

The star said she was coping by calling her mum, “taking naps and talking to other actor friends who had taken on hard roles”.

Her husband had been out to visit recently, George revealed, while her mother, Pamela, arrived last week from Perth.

It wasn’t Hollywood starlet Melissa George or any of the other high-flying actors causing problems, rather it was the local seagulls. It seems the birds had decided prawns and hot chips were not enough pay for them to be filmed by the crew.

The crew had hoped to attract a large flock of the resident Southport seagulls to a green tarpaulin loaded with the free feed bought next door at Peter’s Fish Market. Triangle is a psychological thriller that production staff said had a seagulls theme throughout the movie.

“There are about 20 scenes involving seagulls,” said one insider.

“So we are down here to film as many as we can so we can reproduce them with VFX (visual effects) later on. “We’ve been here all morning but we haven’t had much luck.”

Weathering yesterday’s unusually gloomy conditions on the Gold Coast, the cameras kept rolling on the high but not-so dry structure.

The giant set took a few months to construct at the tip of the seaway wall but will be used for only a week of filming.

George was snapped yesterday being shuttled to the huge mock-up ship under the shelter of a golf cart.

In stark contrast to the relaxed surrounds, the former Home and Away star has been filming action sequences including fights on deck.

Melissa, 31, told The Courier-Mail recently that her star turn in Triangle was her most challenging role to date.

“It’s a tough role for me. Its about a woman with a mental disorder and the film is shown through three of her different personalities,” she said.

“So I’m working hard on this one.

“It’s me, myself and I on the set.”

George describes the film Triangle as “very Sybil meets Bourne Supremacy, if you can imagine that”. Source.
