Australian actress Melissa George is looking to take a break from her successful international TV and film career to start a family in the new year.

The Golden Globe-nominated star of TV therapy series In Treatment says she’s prepared to put a temporary hold on filmmaking to focus on making babies instead.

“Next year will be the year – I’ve got to bite the bullet,” the 33-year-old said of parenthood. George is married to Chilean film director Claudio Dabed and has a stepdaughter, Martina, 14, but wants to have children of her own.

Melissa George invents pants shortener device for NY

By: admin   •   November 30, 2009   •   Filed Under: News   •   0 Replies

Hollywood star and fashionista Melissa George has invented a device that shortens the trouser leg.

George, 33, of Grey’s Anatomy, and her business partner Kara Harshbarger came up with the snap hem, a plastic device called Hemming My Way, to stop their long pants dragging on the streets of New York.

Harshbarger says: “One day over coffee, Melissa shared her idea for an invention. She had just been to New York City and was annoyed by a problem familiar to all women: her long hem dragging up and down the Big Apple sidewalks. This was 2008: enough is enough! So we brainstormed, drank more coffee, brainstormed, got the jitters, and wondered if we were out of our minds – what did we know about inventing?

She continued: “Melissa stars in movies and Kara has made one. Maybe it was the caffeine, or maybe it was the love of a challenge that had us chomping at the bit. We formed Karamel Productions and dove into the world of plastics, adhesives, manufacturing and sales. Like any new venture, the road is littered with potholes, but we’ve been dedicated to the end goal: when stepping over those holes, we refuse to let our hems drag on the ground!”

George will next week launch a new fashion hub in Melbourne at a celeb-studded mega-party.

Melissa George back in Oz for another fashion foray

Perth’s own piece of Hollywood, actress Melissa George, will lend her fashionable fame to help launch Melbourne’s fashion central on December 2.

George, who is set to play a guest role on American drama Lie To Me as a woman called Clara Martin, whose character is modeled on Anna Nicole Smith, will join 1500 guests at the mega party at Chadstone’s official launch.

The 33-year-old actress, who has also had roles on Greys Anatomy and recently won a Golden Globe nomination for her performance on In Treatment, has a real love for fashion.

She has even invented a device designed to stop her long pants hems dragging on the streets of New York, every fashion-follower’s nightmare. Called Hemming My Way, the snapping plastic device allows users to change the length of their trousers.

George is the face of WA jewellery brand Linney’s, and has recently attended the opening party for the Saks Fifth Avenue Calvin Klein Collection shop in New York dressed in an elegant black asymmetrical dress and red lips, the opening of Burberry’s first Perth store, and the Herve Leger By Max Azria Collection Launch Party in West Hollywood.

The Chadstone party, celebrating the launch of the hub of luxury fashion brands, will feature a performance by fellow fashionista Natalie Bassingwaithe, and After Party with Ruby Rose. Guests including Kat Stewart from Underbelly will sip apple and kaffir lime martinis as they party.

Back in October, Niles expressed his desire to see George reprise her role as Stella . However, Kiele Sanchez (“Lost”) stepped in to take over the part. In the interview with Bloody Disgusting, Niles explained why George couldn’t return.

“Schedule. The enemy of all casting,” said Niles. “She’s got a million gazillion things going on right now, so we couldn’t fit it.”

Melissa Joins the ‘Lie to Me’ Guest Star-apalooza

By: admin   •   November 12, 2009   •   Filed Under: Lie To Me, News   •   0 Replies

‘Lie to Me’ is putting together one of the best casts of recur and guest stars of any two-season-old TV show. Veteran TV and movie actor Melissa George will guest star on the Fox drama as a recurring character later this season.

Entertainment Weekly reports George will play an “Anna Nicole Smith-type” character named Clara Martin, the widow of a murdered billionaire that takes over her husband’s business empire.

She comes off recent turns on ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ and ‘In Treatment,’ the latter for which she received a 2008 Golden Globe nomination.

George, who has also starred in ‘Friends,’ ‘Alias’ and ’30 Days of Night,’ joins a list of ‘Lie to Me’ recurring stars including Jennifer Beals, Sean Patrick Thomas and Mekhi Phifer, who became a regular. Season 2 guest stars include Erika Christensen, James Marsters and Garret Dillahunt.

Chris Smith’s Triangle, starring Melissa George, is taking a leap across the pond for a U.S. DVD and Blu-Ray release. First Look Studios picked up domestic distribution rights and plans to give the thriller a debut on February 2, 2010.

Smith directed the underground creature feature Creep and Severance. George plays a woman on board an ocean liner she swears she’s been on before. In addition to the deja vu, she’s being stalked by a masked killer.

Press Conferences

By: admin   •   November 05, 2009   •   Filed Under: Gallery   •   0 Replies

I’m starting to reorganize the gallery and adding new photos. So I just reorganized the photoshoots section into Outtakes, Press Conferences, and Portraits. This section is still not finished because I had tons more to add, but I’ve added a couple new things. I added press conferences on Melissa for The Amityville Horror and In Treatment. The Amityville one’s are a mixture of MQ and HQ and the In Treatment one’s are purely HQ. I’ve also reorganized the magazine scans section too. They are now categorized into years. Enjoy! :)
