Aussie actress Melissa George shocked her audience as she stepped out on a catwalk today, looking old beyond her years with a face full of wrinkles.

Fortunately for the celebrity ambassador of Napoleon Perdis cosmetics, the 31-year-old’s aged appearance came courtesy of some clever prosthetic make-up and a head of grey hair.

George took on the appearance of a 65-year-old woman for the launch of BT Financial’s BT Super for Life in Sydney, to help people imagine themselves in 30 years’ time.

Director David Slade’s 30 Days of Night topped the weekend box office:

Still, the Sam Raimi produced vampire flick 30 Days of Night (Sony), based on the popular graphic novel, came out in first place as expected with an estimated $16 million in 2,855 theatres. The Josh Hartnett led horror-thriller averaged $5,604 per theatre, which is good but not great compared to other horror movies opening in October. Source.

Earlier this week, we posted a comment from actress Melissa George that Jan de Bont’s Stopping Power was ready to restart shooting in March, but when we asked John Cusack for his take on what was going on, he wasn’t so sure, because it’s very much a financial and legal issue that might take some time to work out, and he told us what he thought needed to be done.

“I think they have to honor it or they’re going to get sued into the Stone Age,” he told ComingSoon.net. “That company is liable. They didn’t pay the crew, they went Enron, they were bad. That’s in that weird legal place. I just know that they didn’t have the money and they weren’t paying people.”

So at this point, who knows what’s really happening? Maybe they’re in the process of working these things out, but if so why doesn’t the film’s main star know about them restarting production? There’s been a new version of the story almost every week since production came to a halt a few weeks back, and even if finishing the movie might be in everyone’s best interest, it would be kind of hard to do it without the necessary funds.

Surely, we’ll hear more about this in the coming months. Source.

A few weeks back, Variety announced that Jan de Bont’s action-thriller Stopping Power had been cancelled by its production company Internationalmedia, but that might not be the case according to one of its stars.

When ComingSoon.net spoke to actress Melissa George about the stunts for her new movie, 30 Days of Night, she told us how de Bont liked his actors to do their own stunts. When we asked about the status of the supposedly cancelled project, she responded:

“It’s back on! First of March. Three days into filming, we were in Berlin, they cancelled the film. It worked out so good, because I’m busy doing other things, and I could come back to shoot HBO and I’m going away next Christmas, and then the strike happens next year, so I’m going to go away in March and do this. Look, anything can change, but it’s on. It has to be on.”

We’ll have a full interview with George on our sister horror site ShockTillYouDrop.com very soon talking about her new movie 30 Days of Night, but we’ll also be talking to Stopping Power’s other star John Cusack over the weekend so stay tuned for his take on things. Source.

Actress Melissa George would never be considered a “scream queen”, unless you mention how many horror movies she’s appeared in, at which point, she’s likely to scream at you. No, not really; she’s far too nice to do that. When ShockTillYouDrop.com talked to the Aussie beauty about her vampire flick 30 Days of Night, she was surprisingly affable despite having faced hours of TV interviewers asking her many of the same questions.

In the movie based on the popular comic books, George plays Stella, estranged wife of Eben (Josh Hartnett), the town sheriff of remote Barrow, Alaska, which experiences a month of complete darkness once every year, except this time, there’s a band of vampires waiting to take advantage of the lack of sunlight for a 30-day feeding frenzy.
